What is Karma?
Karma is the accumulated corpus of our past deeds, both good and bad. These deeds have a bearing on our present lives. Karma not just includes our deeds but also includes the deeds of our ancestors. If certain deeds are very heinous, they may result in bad Karma for many future generations. We know this phenomenon in Astrology as Pitra Dosh, or problems due to ancestral sins.
On the other hand, extraordinarily good deeds can have a similar positive effect on future generations. My intent here is not to give a lecture on morality but to point out the fact that Karma is not just some story or myth but something very real and very tangible in our day to day lives.
What does Karma do?
One of the best examples, I can give is from the Ramayan, where the King Dashrath accidentally killed the young boy Shravan Kumar while hunting in the woods. The gave a lot of bad Karma to King Dashrath. As a consequence, he was separated from his dearest child – Lord Ram by none other than one of his own 3 wives.
In the above example, King Dashrath faced the result of his bad deeds in the same lifetime. However, that was not the end of it. The magnitude of his unfortunate error was so grave that even his son Lord Ram had to face the impact of this Karma. Lord Ram had to separate from his wife Lady Sita during her pregnancy. He could not spend time with his own two sons until they became teenagers.
However, for most people the deeds and their consequences are not so apparent or grave. For example, suppose you are looking for an increase in your salary at work but despite your best efforts, it remains a distant dream. This could be due to your Karma. Another example may be that you are having issues in love and relationships and are not able to find the right person but keep ending up with the worst matches possible!
In summary, the possibilities are nearly endless, but I think you have got the message I was trying to convey with the examples I gave that Karma has an impact in our lives and will keep doing so until we do something to remedy the situation.
What do we do about Karma?
The most straightforward way to deal with bad Karma is to help other people going through the same problems as you. Performing good deeds, giving donations to places of worship and charitable organizations is also a good way to deal with the applicable Karma. Of course, this can be a long drawn, difficult and expensive process, depending on how much Karma you have to deal with.
It is said that we should do things the right way even if it is not the easiest way. However, sometimes the weight of our Karma is so much that it makes even day to day living very challenging. This is something that made me so interested in Karma and how it works and I found a way after research of almost 10 long years – Karma is all about Lessons!
While this may seem like a no-brainer, I realized that most people just accept the hardships brought by Karma as an inevitable series of punishments without thinking about the expectation from us – we are supposed to learn a lesson and not repeat what we did again!
Is that it?
Yes – that’s it. Once we have faced the negative effects of bad Karma, we are supposed to assimilate the learning from the lesson and make a resolution of not repeating the error again. However, we don’t do that and this keeps us stuck in a nearly endless cycle of misfortune and blocks that just don’t seem to go away!
Through my research into Karma, I have also seen that this learning is easier said than done. For example, suppose someone has committed a grave misdeed such as murder, rape or something similar. In such a person’s case, the karmic punishment would also be on the same lines. Therefore, it would not be of much use for them to wait until they face the life lesson. Also, even if you are not really having this level of bad Karma, why wait until you are in the bad situation to learn your lesson?
This is where my findings come into the picture.
Ok, so what needs to be done?
In order to solve a problem, we must first know that it exists. This is a golden rule that I suppose everyone can agree with. Until we accept that there is a problem, we won’t be able to find a way to solve it. So, the first step would be to analyze your Karmic account and understand the gravity of the situation.
There can be a variety of ways we can use to gauge our Karma. The first would be a Horoscope Analysis to find out the areas of attention in your life and judge the Karmic weight of your ancestors. The second would be a study of your Karma through the Akashic Records.
The Akashic Records can be considered as a very big library in the sky that contains an account of all our deeds – good, bad and ugly. The Akashic Records also help to understand the Karmic bindings and entanglements which may be binding us and holding us back from achieving our goals.
Ok, what next?
Once we know what are the areas of concern in your life, the next step would be to attack the problem from different angles. The first point would be to initiate requisite remedies to help in mitigating the current or upcoming Karmic punishments. This is something we should not underestimate. Many people come to see me and say that they have done a lot of remedies but did not get results. When I ask how long they did a remedy, they say anything from a day right up to a few weeks. Please understand that remedies need to be done consistently for at least 6 months to see any tangible result.
The second important step is to assimilate the learning you are supposed to get from the Karmic punishment into your soul and your family lineage. This will ensure that the current and future impact of the Karma is reduced, not just for you but for your future generations. This is done with help of a powerful ritual that will encompass your entire lineage on a very high level and assimilate the learning without having to face the actual Karmic punishment.
Yes, you can say that this is a shortcut but this is actually how Karma is supposed to be interpreted in the first place. Ascetics who have renounced the material world are at peace, not just because they abandon their worldly desires but also because they assimilate the Karmic lessons into their souls.
Lastly, the process will involve
So, will this solve all my current and future problems?
This is a difficult question but the reason I am mentioning it here myself is because this is a question almost everyone reading this post will have in their minds and my answer is Yes, it will largely solve your problems. However, please understand that Karma is continuous and keeps evolving as per our thoughts and actions.
So, if you don’t seriously assimilate the learning from the Karma and simply get back to doing the things you shouldn’t do, Karma will be back with a vengeance. Of course, when we are done with the process, you may find a noticeable change in not just yourself but in people and situations around you as the grip of Karma becomes loose.
You will find less obstacles in your path towards your goals, people around you will behave better. Problematic people may simply leave your life altogether too! You will find relationships improving, education and career showing more promise and debts shrinking steadily. These are just some examples considering most common situations but results will depend on the Karmic lessons to be learnt. Suffice to say that you will see a drastic improvement in your situation of concern.
Therefore, it is important to imbibe the Karmic lessons, not just in letter but in spirit as well and avoid performing malicious deeds which could result in future bad Karma.
